New Orleans Grid Sampling of Water to Find Meth Houses

The drug abuse in New Orleans is well known and the drugs have always been readily available including 'crystal meth' which seems to be the drug of choice now amongst younger age groups. Most of these types of drugs are made locally, not coming from other countries. New Orleans is not an exception to this rule. The chemicals used in making crystal meth are highly toxic and now with the waters having temporarily flooded New Orleans that pollution is in the water. When that water is siphoned and pumped back into the lake with it will go all that toxic pollution.

Before the water is forced back out of the city we can use a virtual grid and take water samples of the area then place this data on an ESRI GIS program and get an idea of what types of pollutions occur where when huge flooding events devastate areas. Additionally based on the density of the chemicals used in make shift home meth labs we can almost immediately determined what areas and exactly what houses were meth houses.

I propose using a tethered blimp type system to float over the city and lower lines with sampling kits to various depths to determine and collect data of the type of pollution which exists, catch drug dealers and use this data to determine what is in the water and where. By using this data for future floods we can determine how to address the toxicity of stagnant flooded waters based on time after initial floods and the distribution of chemicals, bacteria and potentially predict breeding rates of harmful human organic growth.
