26 April is Spring Clean Day

(PRWEB) April 25, 2008 -- Last year psychologist Dr Cliff Arnall recommended 31st March as the best day to spring clean our homes. However, thanks to the rain and 'unseasonal' snow the ideal date this year is now Saturday 26th April, according to the cleaning experts.

With bad conditions prevailing in March and April, the last Saturday of April is the best day for the spring clean, because there are likely to be more hours of good weather.

Dr Arnall's formula for the best 'spring clean' day reads:

Light + temperature + decision making + motivation x renewal ÷ by hibernation = the perfect day to spring clean.*

Despite the floods last year some of the hottest days on record were reported during the spring period. Compared with this year, the weather has meant less hours of bright weather than normal, which has left many people feeling lethargic and unmotivated.

Vileda Brand Manager, Jenny Evans said: "Changeable weather conditions have cut down the number of bright or sunny hours and in turn pushed the 'unconscious' need to spring clean to later in the year. Up to now people probably haven't had the motivation to get around to doing a full house clean as they're still trying to get over the depressing weather."

She added: "We all need to use the belated spring clean to pick ourselves up and get on top of things. Having a clean house makes us all feel better, so dust off your mops, buckets and brooms and give your house the attention it deserves."

To make life even easier this spring clean Vileda has improved the UK's best selling mop, the SuperMocio, which now has Pick-up Pockets, to pick up more dirt particles. The Vielda SuperMocio bucket and wringer not has a Power-press wringer meaning faster drying floors.

The SuperMocio SuperSystem is available in supermarkets, DIY and independent stores throughout the country. For further details please visit www.vileda-springclean.com.

Notes to editors:

*Dr Cliff Arnall, psychologist and former tutor at Cardiff University, developed the equation based on a number of environmental and emotional factors. Once combined these factors resulted in an understanding that like animals, humans come out of hibernation when the weather is brighter and choose to clean and tidy their home ready for the summer season.
