Store owner Dee Overly got into soy products after an annual physical revealed she had high cholesterol. "One of the changes I made was shifting from dairy products to soy," says Dee, whose cholesterol dropped 30 points in 3 months thanks to her dietary alterations. "I really enjoy making soy milk, so I decided to sell the soy maker that I use."
The product selection has been painstakingly careful. "It's very important that the items I choose are things that I use and love," explains Dee, who currently offers soymilk makers and tofu kits through her site, as well as the organic soybeans needed for each. "They have to be reliable, good, healthy? they have to be items that I truly believe are going to enhance our lifestyles. As I find quality soy items, I will add them. I will definitely continue to look and see what's out there. I will not only choose them, I will use them."
Dee is always ready to discuss the soy lifestyle with her customers, and has opened a blog at www.SoyMilkCrossroads.net for just that purpose. "I want it to be a place of valuable information, where people can hopefully find answers to questions that are soy- or health-related. I want it to become a good resource for them. I plan on having not just valuable facts or information, but probably post some good recipes that I find that have to do with soy."
Dee will also discuss her plans for future sites. "They're going to be health-related items," she explains. "One of the things I'm looking at closely for my next site is water purification versus water filtering. Carrying water around with you, all kinds of things that have to do with our wonderful resource of water and how it's not quite as clean as we think it is."
