Health Issues From Hard Water

One would think that hard water is possibly harmful to the health, and it is true that it does cause some problems. Dry skin and hair are two and dry skin can lead to rashes or eczema. When people must use hard water for bathing they often prefer to treat it with something to soften it, or use a special soap that will lather in hard water.

But really, people have been drinking hard water forever. Water in its natural form has any amount of minerals dissolved in it. In fact today, selling specially bottled mineral water is big business. Drinking 'hard' water will not harm your health in most cases. Depending on the amount of minerals and the ratio of one to another, especially calcium to magnesium, it can cause constipation - but if the ratio is right, it can also cure that very same problem.

It's not the mineral content of the water that does people harm, it's the bacterial content and the two are not related. Mineral water that bubbles up from the ground and is hot has traditionally been used to alleviate a range of illnesses such as arthritis and rheumatism.
