Colorado Property Managers to Receive Water-Saving Recognition
Steamboat Springs, Colorado (PRWEB) June 21, 2007 -- The Mount Werner Water District, in Steamboat Springs Colorado __title__ Steamboat Springs (http://www.resortquest.com/Destinations/STEAMBOAT), announced today it has launched a program that will recognize condominium, apartment, hotel and townhouse managers for their water conservation measures.
The District unveiled a list of standards that managers of these multiple dwelling units can achieve for certification at three levels: bronze, silver and gold. The program is designed to encourage water conservation throughout the year, but particularly during the high-usage period of June through August.
"We want to reward the property managers who have made this community-wide issue a high priority," said District General Manager Jay Gallagher. "Multiple dwelling units are of particular concern in our water conservation efforts, because they represent nearly 70 percent of water consumption in the District. We seek to partner with area property managers, in hopes that they will encourage their client homeowners associations to incorporate conservation practices and policies."
Property managers who achieve certification will receive a seal of recognition from the District, and the property managers are encouraged to use the seal in any of their promotional efforts. Visitors to Steamboat Springs __title__ Steamboat Springs (http://www.resortquest.com/Destinations/STEAMBOAT) often choose their lodging based upon the property's attention to the environment.
The District worked with ResortQuest, which offers Steamboat Springs Vacation Rentals __title__ vacation rentals (http://www.resortquest.com/Destinations/STEAMBOAT), to establish a set of standards that would be appropriate for the lodging industry in Steamboat Springs, and ResortQuest Steamboat subsequently pre-qualified for certification at the silver level.
"We recognize that a lodging company the size of ResortQuest Steamboat __title__ Steamboat Springs (http://www.resortquest.com/Destinations/STEAMBOAT) can have a considerable impact upon the environment, and we are proud to say we have been focusing on water conservation for years," said ResortQuest Steamboat General Manager Jaki Oakland.
"Mount Werner Water District brought to our attention some additional measures that we can adopt, and we are pleased to receive the District's silver seal."
There are 12 standards for certification, including the following:
? Plumbing fixtures are examined for leaks at least annually and leaks are repaired.
? All sprinkler heads are monitored at least weekly and aligned to minimize waste in non-landscaping areas such as sidewalks and driveways.
? Irrigation system is timed to operate after 8 p.m. and before 6 a.m.
? More than half of established flower and shrub beds have a "drip" irrigation system.
? More than half of the landscaped property is xeriscaped.
? Spas and pools have covers to reduce evaporation.
? No outdoor fountains; no water features.
The standards also encourage homeowners' associations to adopt a policy to consider water conservation measures in any capital improvements, particularly landscaping. Properties that comply with five of the 12 standards receive a bronze seal; properties that comply with seven standards receive a silver seal; and nine standards equal a gold seal.
The program is part of an ongoing effort by the District to raise awareness about the benefits of conserving water. Last year, the District distributed information to individual homes and provided hotels with information cards that they could place in all guest rooms.

Drinking Water Filtration System: Not All Filtered Water Is Safe To Drink
Most water filtration system manufacturers would love to call their purifiers "drinking water filtration systems". While they often can't do that because of various government regulations, they succeeded in convincing us that most water filters are able to produce safe and tasty drinking water. Filtration system manufacturers only concentrate on stating how good their filters are at coping with some contaminants - they don't usually tell us what their filters won't do. And most of them won't do a lot of things.
Home Water Filters: Undersink Water Filters
There are several different types of water filters that can be installed underneath the sink. These undersink water filters provide bottled-water taste at a fraction of the cost. Installation of undersink water filters is fairly simple and straightforward, requiring only the undersink water filter kit with compression fittings and mounting hardware, and teflon tape.
Portable Water Filters - A Convenient Replacement To Buying Bottled Water
Having enough clean, pure water while hiking or camping is an important health consideration and filling up buckets from a nearby lake or stream may not be the safest way to supply the need. It is easier and more convenient, hikers and campers have learned, to carry a portable water filter than it is to carry a lot of heavy bottles of water. Regardless of how clean the water may appear, it should at least be filtered, if not boiled before drinking, to kill any disease-causing bacteria floating around in the water.

Shower Water Filters - House Water Filters
Shower water filters are an essential component to any complete home water filtration system. A shower water filter allows you to enjoy a warm and relaxing shower, without the potential risk of exposure to harmful elements found in standard tap water. This is due to the fact that chlorine strips the natural protective oils from the skin and hair, which leads to the excess dryness. If the chlorine is filtered out of the water, the skin and hair will greatly benefit. Removing chlorine can also be beneficial for individuals s...
