Vermont Woman Starts Super Sized Cycles for the Pure Joy of it

Fairfax, Vermont (PRWeb) January 23, 2007 -- Joan Denizot, avowed couch potato by heart and by history, knew she needed to do something to get her moving. Her good health was no longer a given. If she did not change something, there was a chance that she would soon find herself totally house-bound. She used to love to bike, and would ride for hours at a time just for the pure joy of it. Severely overweight, she needed to find an exercise that she loved, so that she would do it. Bicycles came instantly to mind.

After losing over 100 pounds since 2005 by surgery and exercise, and still being a very large woman, she decided that she needed to get a bike that was built strong enough to hold her. She started looking around. Most U.S. bikes are not built to hold more than 200 lbs. After scouring the Internet, talking to bike experts, and visiting shops, she discovered that, yes, it is dangerous to ride a bike that is not built to hold your weight, and no, they weren't available for extra big people. It was while doing this frustrating research that she realized that she was not the only fat person who wants to ride a bike--thus Super Sized Cycles was born.

"I've learned about the importance of strength in different parts of the bike, and the need to take into account not only my weight but also the speed at which I'd be riding" says Denizot.

Super Sized Cycles are built super-strong, and each cycle has a published, tested weight limit. If Joe Smith weighs 400 pounds, he can check and see which Super Sized Cycles can hold his weight.
